The Role of Emotional Intelligence and Social Capital in Students' Academic Satisfaction

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of emotional intelligence and social capital on students' academic satisfaction at University of Mohaghegh Ardabili. This research was applied in terms of purpose and descriptive in terms of implementation method. The data collection tool was a standard questionnaire. Confirmatory factor analysis was used to assess the validity of the questionnaire and Cronbach's alpha was used to evaluate its reliability. The statistical population of the present study was comprised of 2674 graduate students of the University of Mohaghegh Ardabili (2018-2019). A sample of 336 students was selected through convenience sampling to answer the questionnaire. To test the research hypotheses, the structural equation modelling was applied using LISREL 8.58 software. Findings indicate the effect of emotional intelligence and social capital on students' academic satisfaction. The results also confirmed the mediating role of social capital.
